African Cuisine Connect

Building the supply chain for Africa's culinary renaissance

African Cuisine Connect (ACC) is a platform dedicated to bringing indigenous heritage foods to conscious consumers. However, consistent supply is the biggest barrier to growth.

BREAD serves as the strategic technical partner, managing the backend of this food system. We are building a structured outgrower scheme that organizes small-scale farmers to meet ACC's specific menu requirements. By providing agronomic oversight and logistics management, we ensure that every ingredient—from sorghum to amadumbe—is high-quality, traceable, and grown sustainably.

Expanding to Serve Africa's DiasporaRecognizing the growing demand from African nationals in South Africa, BREAD helped African Cuisine Connect evolve from a local indigenous foods supplier into a Pan-African food solutions provider. We're currently developing their e-commerce platform and digital marketplace to efficiently connect customers with hard-to-find ingredients like cassava, okra, and plantains. Our operational design work includes optimizing B2C delivery routes, creating efficient order fulfilment systems, and establishing supplier networks across the SADC. By building these digital and logistical capabilities, we're helping this organisation become the go-to source for authentic African ingredients—serving homesick communities while creating new market opportunities for farmers willing to diversify their production.

Through African Cuisine Connect, my grandmother's vegetables are now on restaurant menus in Durban. What was once seen as 'poverty food' is now celebrated as heritage cuisine. Our income has doubled, and I'm recruiting more young farmers to save and grow traditional crops

Delivered to Date

We have successfully built the strategic foundation for this project, delivering a comprehensive business plan and an investor-ready pitch deck. This includes the complete design of an outgrower scheme, detailing farmer onboarding, quality standards, and a robust pricing and traceability framework. We also established a full grant pipeline and implemented the core order-to-cash system to manage orders, invoicing, income tracking, and basic inventory.

Now in Progress

Our team is now actively developing the brand and optimising operations. This includes the full website build, email setup, and a complete brand system. Concurrently, we are streamlining business-to-consumer (B2C) deliveries by refining routes, packaging, pricing, and customer communication. We are also implementing detailed production planning and monitoring tools, including crop calendars, yield tracking, and supplier reporting.
